Volunteers Wanted to Join Our Green Taskforce in Mansfield

In News, Reach Mansfield, Volunteer by Sarosha Byrne

We’re looking for people from Mansfield to join our Green Taskforce project at Reach Mansfield as volunteers. The initiative offers adults with learning disabilities the chance to gain gardening and practical skills while helping to improve the green spaces that matter to the community.

The Green Taskforce runs regular sessions where participants work side by side with trained staff and volunteers. Activities range from planting and maintaining community beds to developing new skills that support confidence, wellbeing and greater independence. Volunteers play a key role by providing encouragement, sharing knowledge and helping create a friendly and inclusive environment.

This opportunity is open to all gardener levels. You do not need specialist experience, only an interest in supporting people and a willingness to get involved. Volunteers must live in Mansfield due to funder requirements.

One volunteer shared ““I started volunteering with the charity with no experience – I just needed a new challenge. I wasn’t sure if it would be for me, but I’m glad I started as I would have missed out on meeting so many lovely people. Even if you have a couple of hours to spare, they may be the best two hours of your week.”

The project is generously supported by Mansfield District Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and by The National Lottery Community Fund. Their support enables us to deliver high-quality activities that help people with learning disabilities take an active role in shaping their community.

  • St John’s Centre, St John’s Street, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG18 1QH
  • Thursdays, 1pm-3pm and alternate Fridays, 1pm-3pm
