For many of our clients, the twice-yearly Reach holidays are the highlights of their year, and for their families, it is often the only respite that they have from caring all year round. Holidays and activities such as these are great fun, but also raise aspirations for people to live more independent lives.
Susan has been supported by Reach since the early days of the Charity and loves going on the Reach holidays. She says:
“My favourite part of the holiday was playing crazy golf, watching a film and I won the bingo! At Flower Pod, I love weeding, and I help my mum in her garden at weekends. When I go out with the Out and About Group, my favourite activity is bowling.”
Activities offered on our holidays provide opportunity for fun, relaxation and friendship, and to explore places of interest. They help mitigate against the effects of loneliness and isolation and raise aspirations for more independent lives.
Fundraising helps us keep such activities affordable for clients and families by contributing towards co-ordination and other costs.
