Spring is here and we have been busy at all our Reach centres having fun!
At Flower Pod Newark and Flower Pod Southwell we have been smashing stereotypes about who science is for by completing our Soil Science project during British Science Week. We have been learning how to use thermometers, read pH scales and conducting experiments to try to improve the quality of our compost.
Flower Pod Newark have been learning about the importance of bees and have created beautifully collaborative piece of bee-themed artwork. We have also been digging flower beds at both sites ready to plant some beautiful flowers.
Some gorgeous flower arrangements were made by Flower Pod Southwell for Mothering Sunday. We have also been making a ground sculpture from things around the pod, as well as planting flower for National Plant a Flower day!
The Health and Fitness group at Reach Mansfield have enjoyed getting outside in the sun playing ball games and using the parachute in the park. We have also been practising solo songs in singing group to get ready for our Spring Concert that’s happening on Tuesday 3rd May. Click here to find out how you can attend.
Reach Southwell have been getting competitive by playing boccia together to practice accuracy and stay active. We have also learned about different types of animals in a new course that has focused on The Big Five animals on safari: Lion, Rhinoceros, Elephant, Leopard and Buffalo!
The Creative Minds group attended a session on disability hate crime and had the opportunity to speak to a police officer about staying safe online and in the community. They made their own ‘Stop Hate Crime’ badges to raise awareness. Newark Computer group have been using laptops to create their own stories, plotting a beginning, middle and end to their stories. We have written about exciting characters while developing our digital skills!
We are all looking forward to an Easter break before we get right back to it in the summer term!
Happy Easter everyone!
