Nine people on stage in black tie

We are so proud to share that our Southwell accommodation came ‘Highly Commended’ for ‘Best purpose built accommodation‘ at the national LABC Building Excellence Awards, This follows our achievement last year as the East Midlands regional winner.

The award is testimony to our ongoing commitment to increasing quality housing for adults with learning disabilities in Nottinghamshire, and to the power of what a local charity can do with the help of great architects, contractors, funders and a wonderful, supportive community. Thank you to everyone who gave their time, support and expertise, we couldn’t have done it without you.

We would especially like to thank our funders including: Clothworkers Foundation, The Wolfson Foundation, The Edward Gostling Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation and The Bernard Sunley Foundation.

Steve Shatwell, Reach Chief Executive who attended the LABC Building Excellence Awards night alongside A man and woman in black tie holding a certificaterepresentatives from Allan Joyce Architects and our main contractor C Ratcliffe Builders Ltd. shares:

“We worked for 24 years before achieving this, our original strategic objective. When we eventually did so, it was worth the wait. 18 months on and 12 adults with learning disability continue to love their new homes. What an amazing ground-breaking design by Allan Joyce Architects. This is what a real supported living accommodation should look like. To say that I am proud is an understatement. Thank you to everyone who supported us in this campaign.”

A huge congratulations of course to all the other LABC Building Excellence Awards nominees and winners, what an achievement!
