Progress towards £40,000 target
100%

Thanks to our supporters, we reached our Big Give Christmas Challenge target of £40,000. In just one week!

Donations made towards our Brighter Futures appeal through the Big Give Christmas Challenge were doubled, and so have double the impact too. Funds raised are helping our expert staff to offer life-skills and planning activities, support sessions for families and help with urgent challenges. Which means more people with learning disabilities and family carers can look forward to brighter futures and know where they’re going and how to get there.

Thank you - your gift will make a difference to the lives of local people with learning disabilities, today and tomorrow.

We'd like to say a big thank you to our charity champion Reed Foundation and to our pledgers including Southwell & District Lions and local individuals.

A Reach client survey told us that over a third of participants wanted to do more activities and sports. Our Let's Move appeal is aiming to raise £52,000 to empower adults with learning disabilities to lead happier, healthier and more active lives. Your gift will directly benefit local people's lives and help address the high risk of avoidable poor health faced by adults with learning disabilities in Nottinghamshire.

Help us to enable 150 adults with learning disabilities to:

  • Increase their weekly activity
  • Reduce risk of avoidable poor health
  • Feel more confident to keep active at home
  • Try new sports and adventure e.g. dance, football, archery and challenge days

Through the special Big Give Christmas Challenge portal, donations could be doubled until we reach our £52,000 target. So one donation has twice the impact. For example your donation of £25 becomes £50!

Donations to our Big Give Christmas Challenge will go towards:

  • Weekly sports, fitness and exercise opportunities at our five centres in Mansfield, Newark and Southwell
  • Opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to become sports mentors
  • New challenge activities/outings and sports taster sessions.

Because everyone deserves the opportunity to live healthier, more active lives. Together, we can overcome the obstacles that keep too many from achieving this.

Why people with learning disabilities need your support

I'm Charlie, Reach Southwell Day Service Lead. Previously, I have led dance groups and various fitness activities at Reach Mansfield. Through my years of experience working at Reach, I know many of the people we support lead lives with little or no exercise. The positive effects of active lifestyles are undeniable, contributing to better health.

Why is it so difficult to stay active? For many, the barriers are immense: living on low incomes, facing inaccessible local facilities, or lacking reliable transport. However, it's not just about resources. It’s about confidence, fear, and safety. The fear of harassment, feeling out of place, or simply not knowing where to start.

At Reach, our skilled staff can help break down these barriers. Providing safe, supportive spaces where everyone — regardless of ability, background, or circumstance — can move, connect, and thrive.
