We are pleased to share the launch of Safer Citizens, a new film co-designed by Reach’s Voice and Participation Group to support adults with learning disabilities to volunteer safely and with confidence.
Six group members worked alongside specialist film-maker Crocodile House to create the film, using their lived experience to shape practical, easy-to-understand guidance.
The film and supporting resources were made possible thanks to a Community Chest grant from the Nottinghamshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner's Safer Nottinghamshire Together Fund.
Police and Crime Commissioner Gary Godden highlighted the importance of the project, noting that it helps adults with learning disabilities take part in community life while staying safe and confident.
The Safer Citizens resources will be used across our charity, supporting more people to enjoy volunteering and community activity.
Isobel, one of the film’s co-designers, shared:
“Being part of the Safer Citizens project was really amazing. I loved working behind the scenes and learning how to use the camera during filming.”
