Celebrating Kay’s Proud to Care nomination
Events, News, Voice & Participation October 21st, 2026
We’re incredibly proud of our colleague Kay Greenwell, who was a finalist for the Champion of Working Together for Better Lives award at the Proud to Care Nottinghamshire Awards.

“Kay is such a valued member of our team and a passionate advocate for the people we support. It’s lovely to see her dedication and the difference she makes being recognised.” — Tracey, Projects and Participation Manager
To be shortlisted from 703 nominations is a fantastic achievement and reflects the impact of Kay’s work, including her role supporting Reach’s Voice & Participation Group. She is a passionate advocate for ensuring that people with learning disabilities are heard, listened to and involved in shaping the decisions and services that affect their lives.

Through Reach’s Voice and Participation Group, Kay has helped members grow in confidence, share their views and contribute to projects addressing health inequalities, sexual exploitation and safe volunteering. The group has worked with partners including Nottinghamshire County Council, the Integrated Care Board, the Ann Craft Trust and the University of Nottingham.
“Kay and Tracey always help with things I am not sure about, especially if I don’t understand something, they will explain it to me. I am most proud of making a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities, helping get our voices heard and making change.” – C, Voice and Participation group member.
Several Reach colleagues, Voice and Participation Group members, Trustee and volunteer Adrian attended the awards evening to celebrate Kay’s achievement. The awards ceremony took place at Goosedale, which has previously supported Reach through fundraising, making the occasion even more special. There was a fantastic performance by Vicky McClure’s Our Dementia Choir, including an appearance by Vicky herself!
Reflecting on the evening, Kay said:
“It was a fantastic night and I felt very honoured and proud to have been nominated. Thank you to everyone who came to support me on the evening.
The award may have my name on it, but it also belongs to all my incredible colleagues in the Voice & Participation team, including Tracey, Dani and our dedicated volunteers, Adrian and Miriam. They are at the heart of everything and together we are stronger.”
Congratulations, Kay—and congratulations to everyone nominated and recognised at the awards.
