Charlotte's Story - London Marathon 2020
Southwell mum and business woman Charlotte Bond is currently training for her 6th London Marathon. She’s aiming to raise £3000 for Reach in recognition of the support that her daughter Amelia receives each week from us.
Charlotte explains why she is running for Reach. "Amelia was born with Down’s syndrome, but that does not define who she is. Amelia is a twenty-year old tour de force! A bright, funny, kind and engaging young lady in her own right. Her journey to adulthood would not have been so successful were it not for the support of Reach. I cannot praise the ethos of this organisation or its staff enough for their care, nurturing and support of my daughter’s transition from school/college into fostering as independent a life as possible for her within our community. The work of Reach is vital to ensure that Amelia and her contemporaries will eventually reach their maximum potential in life skills, including total inclusion within society with full access to all the social activities that many of us take for granted.
The London Marathon 2020 is not about me. It’s not about ‘running a time’ or who I am. That’s irrelevant. This is about asking for your support while raising awareness of the astonishing work that Reach do every day on behalf of all their clients. I am aiming to raise £3,000 to help ensure the charity’s brilliant work continues and to benefit all Reach service users."
This year’s London Marathon takes place on 26th April and we wish Charlotte all the best in her training.
